Visiting the north cascades in Washington state during the summer is one of my most favorite activities. If you find yourself on highway 20, you will have plenty of places to visit, hike, or stop to for a day picnic or camp overnight.
One beautiful spot we stopped on our north cascade adventures was at Gorge Lake Campground.

There are quite a few north cascade campground locations and depending on whether you are making reservations or just trying to find a spot at the last minute, there are lots of different options.
One of the reasons we loved Gorge Lake Campground is that it is booked through reservations; this means you can be sure to get a camping spot for your outing. There are only 6 spots and it is a primitive campground (no water access).
Gorge Lake Campground sits along Gorge Lake, just west of Diablo Lake and Diablo Dam. Gorge Lake shares the same beautiful turquoise color seen in Diablo Lake.
